Help create the Puget Sound Technology Universe Map!
A Washington Technology Industry Project to document the "family tree" of our industry
The Washington Technology Industry Association, is excited to partner with Seattle University and Virgina Tech researchers on a project to understand and document the history and genealogy of the Puget Sound technology industry. We need the help of every technology company in the Puget Sound area to participate.
This project, involving both an online survey and in-person interviews, will help anyone interested in the industry understand the companies, institutions and people that have shaped our region into a world-class technology center.
Topics covered in the survey
Genealogy of entrepreneurial firms
Founders’ backgrounds and entrepreneurial motivations
University-industry relationships,
Gobal connections of entrepreneurial firms, and the
Competitive advantages and disadvantages of Seattle as a technology region.
Why participate?
It is important for all of us to learn more about the nature of technology entrepreneurship in the PugetSound region, particularly about the origin of entrepreneurs, their motivations and backgrounds, and the ways they interact with a region’s high-tech economy. The region is home to world-known companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Adobe/Aldus, Expedia, Amazon, Nintendo, and Visio. These companies served as incubators for numerous startup firms fueling the growth and success of the region’s technology industry. Keeping track of these corporate families is important for the region’s economic history.
