Can the use of an IP address be used as a link to establish the personal identification of a person? What laws and procedures are in place to protect the privacy of a data subject? Depending if IP addresses are considered personal data or not, what should the retention policy be for an organization? What are some of the other issues around IP addresses we’re seeing? The July 2009 Security SIG will consist of a panel of industry, law enforcement, and privacy experts, including Ivan Orton, Randy Gainer, Joel Scambray, John R. Christiansen, and David Dunn, in an open forum format to address these and related IP privacy questions. Come bring your questions, comments, and curiosity around this diverse issue that is still evolving with differences of perspectives and changing the laws.
