Joel French has 20+ years experience in clinical informatics, healthcare business operations, financial transactions and enterprise sales management. He is founder and managing director of Nephalios Group, LLC, a management consultancy serving executives of technology, service and healthcare companies. Since 2002 Mr. French has also been an investor and executive of Motion Computing, Inc. a global market share leader in wireless services and mobile PC devices. In this capacity he led its healthcare and professional services divisions and was executive sponsor for relationships with its largest clients and partners. He was previously corporate vice president of strategic development of Superior Consultant Holdings Corporation, a leading publicly traded management consulting and IT outsourcing firm serving health enterprises internationally. Mr. French was a key member of the executive team responsible for generating Superior’s growth and public equity capitalization, prior to its sale to Affiliated Computer Services. He was also founder, president & CEO of ComTrust, LLC, a wholly owned Superior subsidiary providing managed authentication and policy services to large health enterprises and the U.S. Military Health Services. Before that French served in a number of executive capacities with Sentient Systems, Inc., a rapidly growing custom software development and systems integration firm, prior to its acquisition by Daou Systems, Inc.
Mr. French has advised hospitals, health plans, pharmaceutical, physician clinics, private equity funds and technology firms on matters of business strategy, operational and financial performance improvements as well as appropriate technology integration. He has led or participating in consummating financial transactions and enterprise sales valued at $9 billion, including public and private equity financings, the acquisition and operational integration of thirteen companies and the sale of five companies either as principal, owner or advisor. He has been an active contributor to the growing body of health industry knowledge as a widely published author and conference faculty. Mr. French holds an appointment as adjunct professor of the Masters in Health Administration program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is an affiliate of The American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of ACHE’s CEO Circle Forum. He received a BA in Economics from Pacific Lutheran University, completed an honors thesis in economics in connection with Bucknell University, and the Economic Policy Program of American University.

Carla Corkern, CEO, Chairman of the Board, Talyst

Dedicated to the mission of engineering the safer pharmacy, Carla Corkern brings a strategic mindset with high-tech and business savvy to the role of Talyst’s CEO and Chairman of the Board. Corkern champions the elimination of medication waste and medical errors that are so widespread and costly within the U.S. healthcare system. She believes the primary objectives of health reform can be achieved with a focus on these principles, and she advocates for the adoption of proven technology to deliver vastly improved patient safety and cost savings. Embracing the big picture, Corkern is focused on building Talyst’s long-term success by enabling the success of its customers. She strives to continuously uncover and cultivate new markets that would benefit from Talyst’s expertise and secure a pipeline of new business for the company. Corkern brings almost 20 years of experience in high-tech and supply chain management, and has helped build a number of highly-successful technology companies. Prior to joining Talyst, she served as chief operations officer at Vykor, Inc., a leading company in the management of the aerospace supply chain. She contributed to a plan that raised $28 million in venture capital funding and managed the company’s software development, customer support, training and professional services. Corkern was instrumental in several public-company transitions and growth initiatives. She led a buyout of a division of Highland Digital to become the founder and president of ISOGEN International, which is now part of Inodata (NASDAQ: INOD). Corkern then led the integration of DataChannel into Netegrity (NASDAQ: NETE) and served as general manager for Netegrity’s portal business. She is active in a number of charitable organizations, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Seattle Girls’ School. Corkern is a stanch advocate of women seeking technology careers, and and was recently named one of the 100 Top Women is Seattle Tech. Corkern holds a B.S. in technical communication from Louisiana Tech University and conducted graduate work at Southern Methodist University.

Luis Machuca, President and CEO, Kryptiq Corporation

Luis Machuca is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kryptiq Corporation, a healthcare connectivity company that facilitates a first-of-its-kind, open collaborative network for healthcare. Mr. Machuca received his BSEE in 1980 and MSIE in 1981 both from Purdue University. He joined Intel Corp. in 1981 where he spent 15 years in a variety of roles in management before becoming co-GM of the OEM Products & Services Division where he established Intel as the #1 motherboard supplier in the world. In 1996 he became the EVP of the NEC Computer Services Division of PB-NEC Corp. In 1999, Mr. Machuca joined eFusion Corp. as President and COO and subsequently merged the company with ITXC.
Mr. Machuca currently serves on The Regence Group Board of Directors and the University of Portland Board of Regents. Mr. Machuca has also served on the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation Board of Trustees, the ENDfootwear Advisory Board, the Catholic Charities of Oregon Board of Directors, the Portland Metropolitan Family Services Board of Directors, the Jesuit High School Board of Trustees, the Lifeworks NW Board of Directors, the Boy Scouts of America Cascade Pacific Council Executive Board, and was a finals judge for the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 NewVenture Championship business plan competitions sponsored by the University of Oregon’s Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship.

Mohan Nair, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Executive, Regence

Author, educator, high-tech entrepreneur, and now Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Executive at Regence, Mohan is focused on a transformed healthcare system. He is now accountable for all front-end activities for Regence which includes product management, marketing communication, sales, business development and corporate performance management. Regence, the largest health insurer in the Northwest/Mountain State Region, operates not-for-profit Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans in Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho.
Mohan has been President of ABC Technologies, Inc., leader in activity-based cost management software, sold to SAS Corporation and of Protools Inc., sold to McAfee, Inc. He led marketing at Mentor Graphics Corporation, leader in electronic design automation and started his career at Intel Corporation as a software system engineer.
For over ten years, he served as adjunct professor of business with the Kellogg School of Management, teaching executive courses in supply-chain management and cost and performance management. He has authored two books titled “An Executive’s Guide to Activity-based Management Systems” and “Essentials of Balanced Scorecard” (Wiley and Sons).
Mohan has served the nation in several capacities: as a member of the Armed Services Interest Group on Cost and Performance Management; as a member of the Government’s Committee on Performance and Accountability for the State of Oregon and he has been called by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve on the Chronic Care Workgroup.
His non-profit duties include Chair Emeritus, American Electronics Association; Chair, Venture Oregon; Board Member, Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum. Mohan is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Oregon Independent College Foundation and is also a board member for the Big Brother Big Sister Association.

As the Global Market Strategist and a General Manager for the Health Solutions Group, Michael Raymer provides leadership for Microsoft's enterprise focused healthcare products and solutions, with responsibility for strategic planning and development of a market by market approach around the world in the health enterprise space. This position plays a critical role in the creation of enterprise focused solutions that will enable Microsoft's customers to improve health around the world.
Raymer has over 20 years of leadership experience in the enterprise and specialty clinical software markets and in device industries. Raymer has previously held executive positions at Misys Healthcare, GE Healthcare, IDX Systems Corporation and Nellcor Puritan Bennett. In these roles, he has worked with teams of clinicians, engineers and customers to create innovative solutions that have improved the delivery of healthcare around the world.
Raymer attended the University of Kansas in pursuit of a degree in Business Administration. He currently serves on the board of CHIME (College of Health Information Management Executives).
