Strategic Initiatives Staying focused on what matters

WTIA exists to help technology companies prosper in Washington State. To support our mission, we employ the following key strategies:

Connect the Ecosystem through High-Quality Program Offerings

WTIA aggregates technology companies in Washington to build a strong, collective industry voice. Our events, community groups, education and development programs, and lobbying efforts are key platforms that enable us to make mega-connections across stakeholders in Washington's technology community.

Serve the Early-Stage Market Segment

Technology is a growth industry and an economic engine for our state and nation. Washington's long-term standard of living and socio-economic viability requires a community that strongly supports innovation and technology-based development. A thriving early-stage community provides the opportunity to create jobs, spur innovation, and accelerate entrepreneurship in Washington. Supporting the formation, growth, and sustainability of scalable technology companies is one of our key directives.

Advocate in the Interest of Washington's Technology Sector

The vibrancy of the technology sector and public policy that supports business go hand in hand. The technology ecosystem has a fundamental need for high-quality public K-12 and higher education to increase the supply of qualified business and technical professionals in the state. Young companies need access to health care, non-cumbersome regulation compliance, and freedom from an excessively punitive tax environment. WTIA actively advocates for public policy that supports these goals.

Develop Programs to Attract and Retain a Qualified Technology Workforce in Washington

WTIA develops programs and initiatives to help member companies gain greater access to tech talent. We do this through collaboration with the state's educational institutions and through our educational and professional development programs, some of which extend beyond state boundaries to attract technology talent to Washington.
