ConveyUX: Supporting the Puget Sound user experience community with a home-grown annual conference
The field of user experience continues to grow into a key element of the design of products and services. Within the tech industry, UX has become an important part of ensuring customer satisfaction as Court Crawford describes in his recent WTIA blog article. The target of UX efforts could be designing human-machine interfaces for automobiles. Or possibly crafting wearables for GenZ consumers. UX professionals might need to work with very small software user interfaces. Or face down the challenges associated with physical interactions on the appliances of the future. All of that is going to be wrapped around an understanding of empathy, creativity, accessibility, innovation, sensory perception, and the ability to share the vision with others.
At least that’s some of the knowledge that UX professionals shared in Seattle this past January at the third annual ConveyUX conference. Close to two hundred and fifty people gathered for this third annual, home-grown Seattle event. Visitors arrived from Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Korea, Mexico, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the USA. Over thirty presenters shared their knowledge and ideas in over forty sessions throughout the three days. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network and socialize with their colleagues throughout the event.
ConveyUX is built around two elements: a passion for user experience and immersion in the environment of the Pacific Northwest and Seattle. The conference is designed to showcase the UX talent found in Washington State and to bring interesting UXers to our city. Produced by Seattle design firm and WTIA member Blink UX, ConveyUX is coming back to Seattle again in early 2016. You can see all the photos and session descriptions from 2015 on the conference site. Videos from 2015 are freely available to members of WTIA. Registration for 2016 is open now with a WTIA discount of $200 off the price of the Full Conference registration.
ConveyUX is one of the best places to hear from leading practitioners about the what, why and how they make exceptional experiences. What’s special about ConveyUX is the excellent curation of speakers, topics, and real opportunities to not just network – from learn and share – with peers in a variety of fields. The content is useful. The people are passionate. The opportunity to build community and practice is unparalleled.
