About the Event

The WTIA first DEI Summit convenes C-Suite, diversity, HR, and community engagement leaders in the tech industry to share best practices and lessons learned in advancing diversity objectives during a time of increased awareness and accountability to racial justice. The event commemorates the first year of WTIA’s intentional and focused efforts to eradicate systems of inequities in the tech sector.

WTIA’s work on DEI is strengthened by the commitment of 70+ companies that signed the Anti-Racism in Tech Pact, a bold vision for dismantling systemic racism in the technology industry. The WTIA DEI Center of Excellence exists to support the Pact, as well as organizations at all stages of the DEI maturity continuum.

The DEI Summit will be keynoted by Pamela Newkirk, Ph.D., author of the best-selling book Diversity Inc: The Failed Promise of a Billion-Dollar Industry. Dr. Newkirk will discuss her research findings in the DEI space, as well as actionable steps toward diversity management and leadership that create meaningful change. Panel discussions will feature perspectives, experiences, and best practices of industry experts about advancing diversity recruitment & retention and creating more inclusive and equitable organizational cultures.

  • Educate ourselves and our teams fully on implicit bias, cultural awareness, and anti-racism in the workplace.
  • Share best practices on how to effectively recruit, develop, and retain people of color.
