After the initial investment by the Founders, startups often look for outside investment from friends, family, angel investors and venture capital firms. No matter who the investment is from, it is important to comply with both federal and state securities laws when taking outside capital.

This workshop will explore various federal and Washington state securities law exemptions available to startups. Stephanie Gambino from HMLG Law will walk through the particulars of the exemptions commonly used and what entrepreneurs should pay attention to when evaluating whether to take in a new investment.
