Civic Boot Camp: Anti-Racism Strategies for Health Equity

Free – $75Speakers discuss institutional anti-racism training and outreach strategies for health equity. About this event Seattle CityClub is hosting a two-part Civic Boot Camp series “Healthcare for all: Addressing racism in our community health system” Local health leaders will discuss the impact of racism on public health and what we can do to address it. They will explore the need for a reckoning with our institutional systems and personal biases that contribute to inequitable health outcomes based on race and discuss specific strategies to address racism in our community health system. This is the first part in a two part series. On Friday, November 12th, speakers from community-based healthcare organizations will discuss their direct experience with racism in community health programs and how they address it. In this program on November 5th, speakers will address: Institutional anti-racist strategies for partnering with communities for health equity University and college anti-racism education for health professionals How we (as a community and individually) can promote health equity The program will run for 1 hour with a post-panel 20-minute, small group breakout session so that participants can interact directly with the speakers. The panel will be recorded and made available to the public a week after the final event in the series.
