FullConTech: Meet the Speakers
You can’t make meaningful change in your industry without going up against the status quo, and doing so starts small, by changing the way you think. At FullConTech, we encourages attendees to do exactly that, and our speakers are prime examples of how doing so can benefit not only the individual, but the community as a whole.
Here are four of the movers and shakers who will be speaking at this year’s conference:
Sarah Imbach is a recovering start-up exec who relocated to the PNW in 2011. Sarah was one of the first 50 employees at PayPal, LinkedIn, and 23andMe. She now actively mentors, advises, and invests in other people’s start-ups both in town and outside of Seattle.
Annie Rihn is the vice president of recruiting at Zillow Group. Annie leads Zillow Group’s recruiting team, which supports hiring for nine locations and ten consumer and business brands. Since Annie joined Zillow as one of its first ten employees in 2005, the company has grown into the largest real estate network on the Web and mobile, with over 2,500 employees nationwide. Prior to joining Zillow, Annie was a corporate recruiter at T-Mobile and Washington Mutual. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biology from Whitman College.
Andy Shouse serves as Washington STEM’s Chief Program Officer, leading the organization’s efforts to develop and support innovative STEM learning experiences for all Washington students through close partnerships with educators and industry and community partners. A former elementary and middle grades teacher, science center administrator, and STEM education researcher, Andy brings a wealth of experience to Washington STEM. Prior to his appointment at UW, he was Senior Program Officer at the Board on Science Education of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C.
Brian Surratt is the director of the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development. Previously, he served as the senior policy advisor to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray on economic development and the City of Seattle’s power and water utilities. Surratt was the Mayor’s lead staff in Seattle’s efforts to create a path for a new $15 per hour minimum wage, and represented the Mayor on major business recruitment efforts, including successfully retaining a cutting-edge, cancer-fighting biotechnology firm in Seattle. He was featured as one of “The 15 People Who Should Really Run Seattle” in the January 2015 edition of Seattle Met Magazine.
