Gratitude to All FullConTech 2016 Volunteers

Earlier this month, WTIA held its second annual FullConTech conference, which turned out to be another great success. Over 300 attendees came together to discuss how to attract, retain, and grow local talent through cross-sector collaboration, and none of it could have happened without the 20 student volunteers who dedicated their time, energy, and generosity to the conference’s execution. I want to express a huge thank you to all the volunteers who made FullConTech one of the most inclusive and engaging conferences in the Pacific Northwest.

This was my second year being a part of FullConTech. Last year I served as a volunteer scribe, taking notes that would be integral to creating the conference playbook. I was so impressed with WTIA’s ability to actually implement ideas from the conference instead of merely talking about them that I wanted to volunteer again to learn more about how everything worked behind the scenes. I reached out to WTIA and secured an internship as a volunteer coordinator and was placed in charge of almost two dozen student volunteers that I would hand-selected myself.

After interviewing candidates and reading through numerous applications, I made the tough decision of choosing the applicants best suited for the roles of greeter, scribe, and social media manager. After attending orientation and training, they were ready for action. During the conference, greeter volunteers met attendees with a smile, offered to answer questions, gave directions, and assisted participants with any other needs. Volunteer scribes worked at the Discover and Invent sessions and recorded key ideas, discussion points, and “aha moments” to be included in the conference playbook. Social media volunteers composed and posted tweets about the conference and interacted with other people tweeting about the FullConTech online in real time.

The volunteers shined in their roles, helped the event run smoothly, and set a warm and welcoming mood throughout. They exceeded far beyond my expectations and for that I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of them, whose names are listed below. Thank you for making FullConTech another great success this year.
