Member Video Profile: RAM Mounts
Our newest member video profile features a company that’s committed to staying local and keeping manufacturing alive right here in Washington State.
RAM Mounts started out small: in the basement of a founding member’s Seattle home. But after 25 years of growth, the company hasn’t once strayed from its roots. All 250 of its employees and 100,000 square feet of its buildings call Seattle home. RAM Mounts’ factory, research and development, shipping, support, sales, marketing, and testing facilities are all located near the garage the company was born in.
RAM, which stands for “Round-A-Mount,” makes approximately 5000 products that help people mount a seemingly endless list of devices onto various applications. “RAM Mounts is like Velcro,” says president and CEO Jeffrey Carnevali. “It could be used in so many different applications. Could go into boating or it could go into fishing. It could go into aviation. We’re all throughout all five branches of the military. You can find them at a West Marine or retail store, and yet you can find them through Motorola Symbol Technology. So it’s a complete gamut from OEM’s to end users.”
Each RAM Mounts product comes with a “Made in the USA” logo, and it’s no marketing gimmick. The founders pride themselves in being able to work with their machines on a daily basis to ensure that every stage of the manufacturing process is running smoothly and their high standards are being met. “It is the core reason of how we are able to deliver a quality product directly to you,” they say on their website.
Companies like RAM Mount that keep things local have positive impacts on their communities. They boost local economies, create more local jobs, tend to be more environmentally sustainable, inspire local innovation and competition, and more. “Money was not the driving factor of this company,” Carnevali said. “What’s the driving factor is to manufacture a product that people enjoy…To farm that out, or to ship offshore, kind of takes away from the purpose of why we’re here.”
