Membership Monday | WTIA’s New and Renewing Members
The WTIA member community is a diverse one, to say the least! And we want to highlight some of the fun and interesting facts about our new and renewing members in this weekly series. We hope you take this opportunity to get to know your fellow WTIA members and peek behind the curtains of their (sometimes) wacky spaces.
This week’s feature company is Limeade! Here are Helen’s responses on behalf of her company:
What is your role at your company?
Helen: Director of Public Relations
What is your company known for?
Helen: Limeade is a corporate wellness technology company with a mission of measurably improving well-being in the world.
What do you hope to gain from your membership with WTIA?
Helen: We are eager to connect with local tech companies to talk shop and share best practices. We’re also looking to meet future Limemates.
What’s your favorite part about working in your city?
Helen: We’re in Bellevue and I love that we have so many healthy lunch spots within a few blocks. Plus its nice to browse the food trucks too!
What new technological advancement interests you the most and why?
Helen: I’m intrigued by wearables – everything from wristbands and watches to glasses and smart clothes. People are tracking steps, heart rate, sweat, run stride, posture and much more. The popularity of these devices has grown exponentially and makes me wonder where we’re headed. Will we see a day when everything we do is tracked and analyzed? What’s the limit and what happens to all that data? There are numerous nuances involved in the wearables and big data discussion, which is why I find it so interesting.
What’s one unique aspect of your company’s culture?
Helen: We have a culture of improvement that ties to our mission of measurably improving well-being in the world. My favorite aspect of our culture is our sincere desire to keep everyone’s well-being at the forefront of what we do. For example last week our team received an email from Henry our CEO who recognized our team is currently on overdrive and urged us all to make sure we’re taking care of our own well-being. It’s so nice to know that leaders genuinely care.
What’s a goal for your company this year?
Helen: We want to scale efficiently and effectively. We hired 100+ employees in the last year and so this year, we’re laser focused on continuing our growth while also delighting all our customers.
What’s been your favorite experience with the WTIA so far?
Helen: We really loved the witty women and feisty discussion at the recent Women in Tech Networking event focused on “Multigenerational Leadership” moderated by Anna Liotta. Understanding the nuances of each generation and how they show up in the workplace was eye-opening. It was also excellent meeting other women leaders in technology.
Which WTIA event has been your favorite to attend? Why?
Helen: We hosted the Tech Crawl last year in Bellevue and had a blast! We loved meeting so many other members and showing off our new offices. Looking forward to more of them this year!
If you were to explain your company to a room full of 6th graders, how would you go about doing so?
Helen: Limeade is a technology that employees use to improve their well-being. They get points and rewards for completing well-being activities like taking walking meetings, bringing in a healthy lunch, volunteering in the community, learning a new skill and other activities that improve their well-being. When employees have high well-being, they are more engaged in their work, which is great for the company.
What’s your favorite work perk?
Helen: While we have healthy snacks, standing desks, occasional yoga and meditation sessions, what I appreciate most is our culture that really embraces walking meetings and team plank challenges. I never thought I’d be planking in high heels – but hey, there’s a first for everything!
What TV show’s office most resembles your workplace dynamic?
Helen: 30 Rock
What was your result from the Tech Animal Quiz?
Helen: Mountain Goat
In your opinion, what’s the best thing we’ve probably never heard about in your city?
Helen: Hard to say really. I love the loaded bake potato at Pogacha cafe, the gem of a sushi restaurant called Sushi Kudasai and a hidden free parking lot…but I’m not sharing that secret!
Is there a unique story behind your company name or logo?
Helen: Absolutely. Limeade is a corporate wellness technology company. We sell into the HR benefits market, which is typically stodgy, tired, and old school. We wanted something refreshing, real and positive. That’s why we went with the name Limeade. And lucky for us, it’s also pretty memorable!
Thank you to everyone who participated! We will be reaching out to our next batch of new and renewing members and posting the winners’ responses each week starting the first Monday of May!
