Membership Monday | WTIA’s New and Renewing Members

The WTIA member community is a diverse one, to say the least! And we want to highlight some of the fun and interesting facts about our new and renewing members in this weekly series. We hope you take this opportunity to get to know your fellow WTIA members and peek behind the curtains of their (sometimes) wacky spaces.

This week’s feature company is Flowroute! Here are Sean’s responses on behalf of his company:

What is your role at your company?

Sean: I am the founder and chief product officer at Flowroute.

What is your company known for?

Sean: Flowroute delivers advanced calling and messaging capabilities for SaaS-based companies and developers.

What do you hope to gain from your membership with WTIA?

Sean: Being in Seattle brings us to one of the great epicenters of technology on the West Coast. Having WTIA bring people and innovation together is what we look forward to the most.

What’s your favorite part about working in Seattle?

Sean: I previously lived in Southern California, which had no public transportation. I have become spoiled living and working in Seattle with a 10-minute commute, door to door, by way of the Light Rail.

What new technological advancement interests you the most and why?

Sean: I think artificial intelligence (AI) is a fascinating space because of the impact it is having on the IoT, which in turn is bubbling up in various aspects of my life. With the evolution of AI, I feel my dreams of becoming Iron Man are now within reach.

What’s one unique aspect of your company’s culture?

Sean: Collaboration is the cornerstone of our culture. We have found that within a collaborative environment, employees at every level, and every department becomes involved in decisions that impact the company. Being collaborative helps us recruit, retain, and motivate our team members, increase productivity, bring new products and services to the market faster, and increase customer satisfaction.

What’s a goal for your company this year?

Sean: The company’s biggest goal this year is focused on launching our messaging capabilities and to become a significant player in the communications services arena.

If you were to explain your company to a room full of 6th graders, how would you go about doing so?

Sean:

How many of you have ever used your phone to make a call? (half the class raises their hand)

How many of you have ever sent a text message from your phone? (the entire class raises their hand)

Flowroute provides companies and developers alike the ability to integrate calling and messaging into their applications and services to create cool user experiences.

What’s your favorite work perk?

Sean: The coffee bar! The caffeine is a gravitational force for all of our team members. We are big fans of using Chemex or a French Press to make our coffee, so we have at least 3 minutes to catch up with one another during the brewing process.

What TV show’s office most resembles your workplace dynamic?

Sean: Bones: Our team is always trying to figure out how to solve complex problems with little to no information.

What was your result from the Tech Animal Quiz?

Sean: Wow! A Mantis Shrimp. If I had a dollar for every time someone has told me I remind them of a Mantis Shrimp, I would now have a dollar – but the description is spot on.

In your opinion, what’s the best thing we’ve probably never heard about in your city?

Sean: The summers in Seattle are a treasure of all their own and then when you add Tacos Chuckis to the mix, it’s pure heaven.

Is there a unique story behind your company name or logo?

Sean: Our logo is intended to demonstrate the exchange a phone call or message would take by creating a cyclical motion from person to person.

Thank you to everyone who participated! We will be posting the rest of the winners each week the rest of this month.
