Membership Team Night: brought to you by the Dyne App
New WTIA member company, Dyne, is an app that connects local diners to chefs, restaurants, and meal experiences. After meeting with Nicholas Becker (CEO of Dyne) and Travis Thurber (CTO at Dyne), I was curious to see first hand what their app was all about.
What is Dyne?
I’ve lived in Seattle for almost a year now, having moved from Wenatchee, WA. I’ve noticed that people in Seattle always seem to know where the best new restaurants and events are, but I’ve never fully understood how they received their insider information and foodie expertise. To be honest, I am not sure I will ever know the secret, but Dyne is my first step into this inside circle. With the Dyne app, you can to browse a curated list of local foodie events, make reservations, and pay ahead of time.
Their events range from pop-up restaurants, home cooked meals, restaurant events, secret menus and more. An updated version of the app, Dyne 2.0, recently became available on June 19th with enhanced search capabilities and add-on features.
Membership Team Date Night
With the membership team as my dates we signed up for our first event, a dinner at FareStart. Our membership team makes sure our members are happy and informed of the WTIA programs. It’s always a highlight for us to experience what our members do.
We started by figuring out a night where we were all free (the most challenging part of the process); we then we reserved our seats and pre-payed for our meal. We learned that FareStart is an organization that provides culinary job training and placement programs for homeless individuals. Thursday is “guest chef night”- the night we attended, the chefs at Radiator Whiskey featured some of their delicious creations. The icing on the cake (food pun intended) was the graduation ceremony for three FareStart students while our meal was taking place.
We often forget how a meal can become an experience. Between the dinner (beet salad, Frito pie, and honey mousse…yum), the company, and the intentional nature of FareStart, the meal was a truly memorable experience.
After a seamless and fun time at the last Dyne event, I have no doubt that we will try another. It’s encouraging to see a new idea that supports the local restaurant scene and changes the way we think about eating out.
