Partner Event 4/3: Ada Developers Academy
Our friends at the Technology Alliance have been running an amazing pilot project to help women enter the software development workforce. This is an essential project for our industry because less than 15% of the Computer Science graduates from US universities are women. This cross training pilot project is called the Ada Developers Academy – named after Ada Lovelace, the world’s first software developer who wrote computational algorithms for Charles Babbage in the early 1800’s.
Ada Developers Academy is an intensive software developer training school that combines six months of classroom instruction in web developer technologies with six month of internship at a local tech business. Students learn Ruby, Rails, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript. Additionally, students will learn how to work on agile development teams, using pair programming, scrum, and test-driven development.
