PSBJ: WTIA Chief Schutzler Challenges Area Leaders to Make More ‘Noise’

Michael Schutzler was already well known in the Seattle startup community when he was selected as WTIA’s new CEO in August 2013. He now leads the 30-year-old nonprofit as it tries to raise the profile of Washington state’s technology scene. The WTIA is a trade association representing more than 600 technology companies.
What’s on your legislative watch list for 2015?Education. It’s front and center because of the McCleary ruling (requiring the Legislature to increase education funding). And if all of the money were put into reducing class size, that would be a mistake. On the other hand, if you do have some money that is going to go into education, almost all the jobs that are being created in this economy require a degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering and math)
