Cathay Pacific Announces First Direct Flight from Seattle to Hong Kong

“Starting April 1, Cathay Pacific will be running direct flights from the Emerald City to Hong Kong, four times a week. Initially, the flights will depart at 1:05 a.m. Seattle time, and arrive in Hong Kong at 5:25 a.m. local time. The travel time is projected at 13 hours and 10 minutes. For now, they’ll run on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Beginning July 1, the service will expand to seven days a week.”

Port of Seattle Planning for Third Cruise Ship Terminal

“On Wednesday, the Port of Seattle started the process of building a $200 million cruise ship terminal along the Seattle waterfront. The terminal would be built along Pier 46, which currently serves as a cargo shipping hub in SoDo. “We want to be that welcome mat for people getting up to Alaska and appreciate the natural beauty, and hopefully come home and be more cognizant of their footprint. So, we’re really excited about the opportunity,” said Stephanie Bowman, president of the Port of Seattle Commission.”

“The double-deck structure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct is on its way down. Demolition began on the section of elevated highway along the Seattle waterfront this week. Work over the past few weeks has focused on tearing away the viaduct’s edges and working away at tucked-away sections, according to a blog post by the Washington State Department of Transportation.”
