4 Washington Cities Make Nation’s Top 50 Urban Areas for Access to Parks, Public Lands

“REI Co-op and the Trust for Public Land (TPL) released a list highlighting the top 50 large urban centers in the U.S. where public lands and parks are widely available. Seattle, Bellevue, Spokane and Vancouver were among them. While the top 50 cities focuses on urban centers with strong park systems, the data also reveals that 2 in 3 city-dwelling Americans do no have easy access to the outdoors, according to a news release sent by REI on Wednesday.”

Alaska Airlines: Everett Paine Field Flights Will Begin Feb. 11

“There will be commercial airline flights at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, by mid-February. Alaska Airlines announced that its flights there will begin on Feb. 11, when it launches a planned schedule of 18 daily round-trip flights between Everett and eight West Coast cities. Tickets are now on sale on the routes, with promotional fares as low as $39 one way. Though Paine Field is home to Boeing’s widebody assembly line and has some general aviation flights, it has been decades since the airport last had regular commercial passenger service.

Parts of Seattle Tunnel to be Unearthed in Coming Weeks

“You’ve been driving over them for years and probably didn’t know it – the ramps which will soon lead into the new State Route 99 tunnel under Seattle. The soon to be revealed ramps were built in 2014 and buried. On January 11, State Route 99 will shut down through Seattle as the Alaskan Way Viaduct will close, and final construction connecting the existing road system to the Seattle tunnel begins.”

University of Washington Launching New Certificate Program for Women in Entrepreneurship

So she and others at the UW decided to start one of their own.”
