“Tech workers in Seattle are making more and their salaries go further than those in competing markets, making the city the top relocation destination for workers elsewhere. Those are the key findings in the third annual State of Salaries report, released by the job search site Hired on Thursday. According to Hired, the average tech worker in Seattle is now making $132,000 a year — just below the global average of $135,000. It represents a steady rise in Seattle, which saw pay at $125,000 in 2015 and $129,000 last year. The amount refers to base salary and does not include equity, bonuses, etc.”

Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue reached nearly 2.1 million jobs in December, according to new data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s up 44,000 from December 2016.”

“Rising wealth from Seattle’s technology boom changed the face of a neighborhood that used to be the black community’s historic core. Now, tech wealth is joining efforts to push back against gentrification. The project, to secure affordable housing in Seattle’s Central District, is one of several backed by a new $10.25 million fund run by a nonprofit that has attracted high-profile investors from the technology world, including two of Amazon.com Inc.’s earliest investors. The fund is an example of the growing interest of private investment in community development in cities along the West Coast, where both home prices and homelessness have surged as the tech industry sows patchy prosperity.”

“New data from Indeed.com highlighted the Seattle companies with the most tech job openings in 2017 and the top contender was no surprise. Hint: Its name starts with an “A” and rhymes with Amazon. But a host of other companies — some based in the Emerald City and some simply with offices here — made the list. Indeed also collected the top salaries and the top jobs, with software engineers taking the largest share of tech jobs — more than 21 percent of all openings.”
