“Sea-Tac Airport is on its way to becoming the first in the nation with all-electric ground vehicles.  The plan is to save 1 million gallons of fuel per year…Alaska Airlines led the way at Sea-Tac Airport in the effort to make all ground vehicles electric in 2012.  Those are the pushback tractors, belt loaders and bag tugs you see zipping around the tarmac. After Alaska Airlines went electric, Sea-Tac Airport officials had the idea to be the first in the nation to electrify the entire tarmac.”

Seattle City Light Opens 2 Electric-Car-Charging Stations on Beacon Hill

“Seattle City Light opened its two fast-charging stations for electric cars on Beacon Hill on Tuesday, the first of 20 planned charging stations that the utility hopes to open in the city by the end of 2018. The charging stations, along with hundreds that Seattle City Light is working to install in private homes, are part of “Drive Clean Seattle,” a city initiative to reduce carbon emissions that cause climate change. Seattle City Light has budgeted $2.2 million for the 20 public charging stations, a City Light spokesman said. The two new stations are on 16th Avenue South, about a block from the Beacon Hill light-rail station.”

The just-released Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index shows home prices in most major markets are increasing steadily, with the west coast being especially hot. Seattle has been a fast-growing market for months. In the past year, the price of the average single-family home has gone up 12.7%. That’s more than twice the national average of 6.21%.”
