The IEEE Introduces a Virtual Job Fair
In order to find new and innovative ways to help our members find great tech talent, we have partnered with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the association for emerging technology fields to launch a first of its kind online Career and Talent Expo. The Expo is delivered through a 3D virtual environment, and will host monthly job fairs and world-class resources to advance members in their careers. The Expo opened yesterday, and the first live job fair is June 10 – 12.
The WTIA has a virtual booth there, touting the benefits of working in Washington and showcasing our entire collection of WTIA member video profiles to illustrate the richness of our tech community and to provide additional value for our members.
The Expo differentiates itself from all other virtual fairs by matching the applicant’s behavioral skills, intrinsic drivers, and competencies to the job, along with the prospective hirers company culture, marking the beginning of a unique methodology to recruiting. Upon registering, applicants take a free and easy talent assessment which measures behaviors, passions, and competencies. Companies can then view applicants’ results and compare these indicators with their respective needs. I took the talent assessment myself and I was surprised by how accurate it was — Check it out here.
Encompassing fourteen industry disciplines, the IEEE Virtual Career and Talent Expo will host corporate booths and company job postings with an emphasis on hiring US veterans and providing transitioning resources in helping veterans select and connect to technology fields. In addition, the program will bring awareness to the importance and opportunities in STEM jobs with high school student and company online networking days.
This Expo incorporates both traditional recruiting and job matching sponsorship packages. Companies of all sizes can open a virtual booth – learn more here.
