“SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk announced Jan 16 that the privately held, Hawthorne, Calif.-based aerospace manufacturer and space transport company would open a satellite center in Redmond. Calling it SpaceX Seattle, Musk said the facility will be the company’s center for engineering and building a swarm of low-orbit satellites to carry high-volume international internet service, instead of via fiber-optic cables. The city of Redmond said the office would initially employ 41, but speculation is the office could eventually employ up to 1,000 workers.”
