“What made Mufleh’s résumé so interesting to recruiters is that it doesn’t really focus on her past experience, although an employer could find that on her résumé if they wanted to. Instead, it showcased her knowledge of the travel industry, what she could contribute to Airbnb, and areas she thinks the company should tackle next. She even formatted the résumé to look like an Airbnb profile.”

 

Starbucks Leads Multi-Company Initiative to Hire 100,000 Young, Minority Workers

“Starbucks Corp. is teaming up with more than a dozen companies in a commitment to increase hiring of young, minority workers over the next three years. The companies—which also include Alaska Air Group Inc., CVS Health Corp., Lyft Inc., Microsoft Corp., and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.—have pledged to hire 100,000 mostly low-income, 16-to-24-year-olds as apprentices, interns and part- and full-time employees by 2018.”

 

Seattle Truck-Technology Company Gets $50M Boost

“Zonar also announced it is opening a developer office in downtown Seattle in August. The company wants the Seattle address to help recruit hardware and software developers, Zonar CEO and co-founder Brett Brinton said. Zonar’s 70 developers will move into the new location in August, and the business is looking to hire about 50 more. Zonar plans to have 300 employees by the end of the year, Brinton said.”

Tableau Inks Lease for New 210,000-Square-Foot Office Complex; Expands in Fremont

“Tableau, the second fastest-growing public company in Washington state last year, has increased its revenue by about 223 percent in the past three years. It’s been adding employees at a rapid clip, and plans to add more. The company has about 2,200 employees worldwide, including about 1,300 in the Puget Sound region. In May, the company had more than 600 job openings. The company is currently hiring for about 400 positions, according to its website.”

Will Wave Expand in Big New Kirkland Complex?

“The 80,000 square feet of space would be enough room for about 525 employees. Currently, the company has 300 employees at its headquarters and a total of 1,000 companywide. Wave has 129 job openings in the Puget Sound area, with most of those in Kirkland, according to an online search.”
