Top 10 Rising and Falling Buzzwords in Tech Job Postings
Chicago Tribune | Dina Bass | Nov 3
“Technology changes frequently, and so do its buzzwords. Some of the most effective terms a year ago, such as big data, no longer have the same cachet with job applicants, according to a study of more than 500,000 tech job postings by Seattle startup Textio. Stale jargon is being replaced by hotter trends, including artificial intelligence and real-time data.”

“…Accolade’s Seattle headquarters will grow quickly, [Raj] Singh said, and is eventually expected to house a triple-digit number of employees. “The intention is to build something enduring here,” Singh said. That doesn’t mean the company will relocate its 700-plus employees, most of whom are in Philadelphia. Big technology companies need to have a “massive presence” in multiple cities, Singh said, as evidenced by the numerous Silicon Valley companies setting up outposts in the Seattle area.”

Boeing’s Loss of Bomber Contract Could Mean Jobs for Puget Sound Region
Puget Sound Business Journal | Steve Wilhelm | Oct 28
http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/blog/techflash/2015/10/boeings-loss-of-bomber-contract-could-mean-jobs.html
“Boeing just lost the contract to build the Air Force’s next bomber, but the Puget Sound area could still win big chunks of bomber work. There’s ample precedent, because Boeing workers in the Seattle area built wing and fuselage structures for the current B-2 bomber and the F-22 fighter…To be sure, Northrop Grumman’s win of the bomber contract, which could reach $80 billion including development costs, is a big loss for St. Louis-based Boeing Defense, Space and Security. But for the Puget Sound area, the jobs outcome may not be that different. This region has evolved into one of the nation’s leading centers of advanced carbon composites manufacture, through a combination of the B-2 and F-22 military legacy, and more recently, Boeing’s commitment to build the 777X’s carbon composites wings in Everett.”
