WTIA Members Can Find Discounted Hotels in a Pinch
The internet is overflowing with travel tips.
One of my favorites is to try out cities that are on the rise for travel. This fall, Atlanta, Orlando, and my very own Seattle are topping the charts. Another is to book your hotel during the week if you’re going to a popular tourist spot, because prices rise during the weekends. A third useful tip is to go to cities that are known as business destinations on the weekends, because they tend to be more expensive to visit during the workweek. You’d be hardpressed to find, however, a travel tip that advises you to plan your trip at the last minute. And yet sometimes we simply can’t avoid doing so.
When I was visiting friends in Oceanside, California earlier this year, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to San Diego that same night, even though the logistics would be complicated and expensive. Or so we thought. Soon after we started scrambling to find a place to stay the night, I remembered I had a HotelStorm discount, and from then on it was smooth sailing. We immediately found a ton of viable options and ended up booking a hotel in the heart of downtown San Diego at 30 percent off. We breathed a sigh of relief and moved on to planning the more important things, like where to find the city’s best carne asada fries.
Impressed? You too can plan a getaway under the wire without shelling out a decent chunk of cash. HotelStorm negotiates hotel discounts that are available exclusively to WTIA members. And the website is straightforward and easy to use, too. All you have to do is search for your destination and you’ll get results that will save you anywhere from 10 to 55 percent of what other online travel agencies can offer you. And don’t forget: you can apply the discount to both professional and personal trips. The catch? Just kidding, there isn’t one.
