Seattle tech salaries among highest in U.S., when adjusted for housing

“San Francisco has the highest average tech salary at $113,497, with Seattle ranked fifth at $98,215.
After cost of living adjustments, however, Seattle ranks second at $91,242, just ahead of third-ranked San Francisco at $90,457. Austin, Texas, averaging $95,247, tops the list.
The reason: housing costs.”

Apple rumored to be taking a big bite out of Seattle-area office market with potential expansion

“Multiple sources told GeekWire that Apple may be considering properties in downtown Bellevue, including Schnitzer West’s 16-story Centre 425 building, which is under construction and set to open later this year. Assuming standard corporate leasing ratios of approximately 150 to 250 square feet per employee, approximately 1,400 to 2,300 people could work out of the 354,000 square feet of office space in the building.”

Mukund Narasimhan is a well-traveled tech industry veteran, having worked as an engineer at places like Intel, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and Google.
Now he’s taking on a leadership role at Pinterest, heading up its new Seattle engineering office and helping the content-sharing company solve some of the toughest technology challenges he’s seen yet.
Narasimhan joined four other Pinterest engineers who traveled from the company’s Bay Area headquarters to Seattle on Thursday to host an invite-only recruiting event that educated attendees about the types of challenges and projects that Pinterest employees tackle everyday.
