This Seattle Biotech Just Raised $3.5M to Pursue Alzheimer’s, Other Brain Disease Drugs

“M3 Biotechnology, founded in 2011 at Washington State University and now based at the University of Washington’s CoMotion commercialization center, just raised $3.5 million in equity investments. That money is part of M3’s series A funding round. M3 Biotechnology is aiming to raise a total of $8 million. The small company — which will have six full-time employees by the end of the year — develops treatments for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.”

“Trying to hire Java developers? Finding Java developers to fill short-term Lynden Inc. positions used to take two to three weeks. Now it can take two to three months, said Rob Terpilowski, software architect for Lynden Inc., a freight shipping and logistics company in Seattle. To make matters worse, he said, Lynden has to pay substantially more to attract those developers. ‘The developer shortage has hit us here at Lynden, especially the shortage of Java developers,’ said Terpilowski. ‘Amazon, Google and Facebook all have offices in our area, and they have been soaking up a large amount of the available Java developers.’“
